help with electric starter identification

Post by 57NC »

Do anyone recognize the make/model of the electric starter in these photos? I can find no label or indication at all of what it is. It's completely blank.

I took it off my 582 (on a Challenger II) to try to troubleshoot it ... not providing enough "oomph" to start anymore.

Those thumbnails are too small to provide any details, but a Google search resulted in this hit on ebay. I'm not familiar at all with the Rotax 2-strokes, though, so this may not be suitable. Not providing enough "oomph" sounds more like a electrical system problem (not enough voltage or current to the starter) than a starter failure.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try to post some bigger photos here to give a better look. (see below)

I ruled out an electrical system problem ... I hooked a known-good car battery directly to the starter, and same "lock of oomph" symptom.

I used to rebuild Jet skis as a hobby. It looks just like a Sea Doo starter for the 580 motor.
