That 1420 was just a typo. I did indeed mean 1320. I just edited my post to correct for fat finger syndrome

I guess your calculation show that we can dispel the myth that 1320 came from the fed's converting the European 600 kg standard from metric to colonial units.

Yeah . . . and besides that . . . the moon thingy was accomplished 50 years ago.
Pretty remarkable, considering most of it was done with slide rulers.

As a major aside, signed up for AppleTV+ yesterday and started "For All Mankind", an alternate reimagining of the Space Race. Pretty decent so far.

Since there will be no fire hoses, I might get out and piss on the side of the plane. Well, maybe the tire.

In the old Soviet Union, Yuri Gagarin pissed on a tire of the bus that carried him out to the launch site. This became a tradition practiced by all successive Cosmonauts - including Valentina Tereshkova in 1963, when she became the first woman in space!
