Very tastefully done. Thanks!

Two other hazards I have encountered on local lake beds.

1. Soft surface, best to walk it first. Hard surface tends to look dark.
2 Deep pumice, can reduce your roll-out to about 3' and then your stuck.

That location is so surreal.

The morning of the accident was clear and calm, with the playa surface (except down on the east end, where it was bumpy) like pavement and traffic light. It goes to show that no matter how experienced or good of a pilot you are, a small error in judgement, by you or somebody else, can take you out in a heartbeat. I think authorities will eventually focus on pattern protocol as being involved in the cause.

Nevertheless, if I'm still flying next year, I'll be back out there! But I hope it will be under more Oshkosh-like rules and guidelines, though. This high-desert event has grown large enough now to start going in that direction, I think.
