Rich, congratulations on the New Year bringing a decent snow pack to you Californians. Perhaps not a full fix for the 4 years of drought, but certainly a good start and a needed reprieve!

Yes, indeed, it is a more hopeful start to winter than last year. The reservoirs are still empty, but the snowpack is slightly above average for this date. Now, if El Nino just busts loose with some serious rainfall, too!
