Here is some information on what you need to present. There is nothing said about a student certificate. Call the testing facility to be sure of what they will require.

You do not need a student pilot certificate, or a medical, or a drivers license, to take a knowledge test. You do need a student pilot certificate, and either a medical or a driver's license, to solo an LSA.

Paul is right, but they may ask for a drivers license as a form of identification with a photo. Other forms of ID are acceptable, see the FAA link in a message above, but people get lazy and just say, "bring a drivers license". It can be confusing when a form of ID can be used for two different purposes and it can be easy for the uninitiated to confuse the purposes.

Thanks for the quick replies. I know I have to show my driver license and have the logbook endorsement to show I'm qualified. Just couldnt find any place that says I have to show the student cert

Just make sure that your name on your ID (Drivers license) and your Student Pilot certificate match exactly with what the test center has. I had a situation over a middle initial one one and full middle name on the other that resulted in a paper chase and almost a retake of the written test.

Good point -- and not just for testing centers! TSA can be especially anal. My pilot's license, driver's license, and social security/medicare cards all have my name down as H. Paul -- the name I've gone by for over 40 years. My passport spells out the first name for which I've always used just the initial -- that is, Howard Paul. On one trip to India, I was delayed in Chicago because the airline couldn't handle the first initial, middle name format, and issued the ticket to Paul H. TSA decided I was an imposter!

Yes, I did finally make it to India on that trip. A day late. The airline had to reissue my boarding pass, in the exact name that's on the passport, even though that name doesn't match all my other ID.
