I'm officially an LSA Driver

I've been around the board for a few months, since I decided to get back into flying and join the LSA Brigade. No other reason, than I don't really have a "mission" and I got tired of the expense of a Part 23 Airplane. I was a former Cirrus SR20 owner and after 4 years of nearly going broke with it, I gave up flying for the last 6 years.

One morning I woke up & decided a was going to fly again. I spent a few months searching for airplanes and a couple of near misses later, my 2007 Sting Sport arrived from Arkansas on Wednesday night. I had flown down to SportAirUSA 2 weeks ago, to do a couple of days of transition training and made my first solo landings, today. Uneventful, other than a constant "beep, beep, beep" while flying ... until I stopped, answered my Cell Phone and found out the USAF was looking for me, because my ELT was apparently malfunctioning (more like Pilot Error, but we won't go there.)

Anyways, I thought I'd post a photo. The striping was redone last week and I have temporary numbers (the color doesn't match), until the FAA approves my change. Wing stripes are on their way.

Thanks. I have a home in your neighborhood, I'm in Trinity. I'll be flying down, as soon my 6 months are up & I don't have to worry about getting hammered with Florida Sales Tax!

Nice looking! Now, I know how mine used to look!

Did SportairUSA do that re-striping?

Pre-flighting mine today, for a trip tomorrow AM, I found one arm of the exhaust bracket to have a crack. Already got it removed, welded, and put back on, for tomorrow!

Good luck with yours.

PS: The black spinner goes good with the DUC prop; I used the original white spinner with my DUC.

SportAir put the stripes on, I got them from AeroGraphics.

At least according to Allen at SportAir, I needed a new spinner for the Swirl. Not true?

I got a little good news today. Come to find out, there's a new guy setting up a shop at the airport I'm going to be based at ... he's a Rotax guy and a good one. He's currently working for a company that's designing a flying car (http://www.terrafugia.com/).

Had a great first solo today.

Negative, the original factory spacer and spinner will work just fine. However, it does take 1/2-hour to drill six new M8 holes in the spinner backing-plate--which were slightly off-set, as is. The only new item needed besides the DUC prop are 6 slightly-longer M8 bolts.

Thanks for the tip to Aerographics! I had not heard of them, before now. Now, I'll re-do all of mine, soon!

Thanks all.

Did a little flying this weekend. Not as comfortable as my Cirrus was, but a lot of fun!
