And if it turns out to be a catastrophic pandemic with fatalities in the tens of thousands, I hope those calling it a hoax and no worse than a common cold - delaying any meaningful response for two months - end up in jail.

They gonna have to do better than that, there are about 8000 people dying every day in this country, most of them due to an opportunistic virus or some other relatively trivial affliction that would have been harmless to a younger person without nasty comorbidity and weakened immune system - it is called the cycle of life and death.

Interesting , just got this email ... it almost reads as “don’t pay attention to the order, we are open for business “

Dear Tenant:

As you probably have heard, Governor J.B. Pritzker issued a “stay at home” order this afternoon for the entire state starting Saturday at 5:00 pm through April 7, 2020. Bult Field will remain open and operational. Hanson Professional Services Inc. and Brown Aviation, LLC will continue to be available to provide you with customer service at the airport.

If you have any maintenance issues please let line service know or submit a maintenance request online at .... I will coordinate the repairs with our maintenance contractor, C.J. Pohrte Maintenance Inc.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Hanson or Brown Aviation personnel by phone at

Apples to oranges. That 8000 deaths per day is all causes and all ages; with Covid-19, we're talking about a single cause. I hope the experts are wrong, but according to current on-line JAMA articles we missed our opportunity for containment, and mitigation like the steps finally being taken by the states (California, New York, Illinois, Florida) is our only hope to avoid tens of thousands of Covid-19 related deaths.

We'll see.

I'm doing the same thing, Shawn. Tanks are full and tomorrow morning's forecast is sunny and cool.
Hi Stan, hope you were able to get out and fly this morning. I got away for a few hours to punch holes in the clear blue sky we had this morning. I did not see the corona virus on my ADS-B so it was a beautiful morning up there. Be safe and take care of yourself and your family.

I tried, Shawn, but our dog walker called to say he is going to follow the California stay-at-home guidelines and won't be walking dogs for the next three weeks. I stayed home and walked the dog since I couldn't get anyone else on short notice.

Just tell your dog to go walk itself, Stan, and you go out and fly. Tell the dog you're practicing social distancing; I'm sure it will understand.

One of my buddies is pretty good with Photoshop. Sadly Jason, my golden retriever, gets motion sick.

Well let's see. I'm in NY. I work for a hospital(IT) so theoretically I could go to work. But, the hospital I work for owns several of the houses across the street. My office is in one. Last week they decided to use our parking lot for the drive thru Covid-19 testing. Then they started scoping out he houses to be used to house exposed employees who have to be quarantined. So my boss told us(the entire application IT staff) to work remotely. For the most part we can, as we have tools to remote into PCs if we have to "see" what's going on with a user. The hospital is part of a large healthcare system and most of the IT and other staff are working remotely as well. It's starting to tax the network bandwidth a bit. Let's hope the cable company/ FIOS keep their stuff running or we'll be in deep poop. The desktop support techs who do break/fix are still on site. Since they pretty much stopped all elective surgery they are going to use the OR recovery room as a back up ICU. This should be interesting.

Stan, all jest aside, the airport in that photo looks vaguely familiar. Is it maybe Page AZ?

Close, Paul. It's Sedona AZ (SEZ). I love Page/Lake Powell, too.
