Seth - I think you have to compare the two policies, almost line by line. And you can get insurance from other sources than EAA and AOPA.
Also keep in mind the "hidden" insurance costs: you'll most likely need to get hull insurance as well as liability insurance. Got to figure out how much of each you'll need. And if the school/fbo tells you you're "already covered" under their insurance - it's not really you who's covered, it's the plane owner.
Someone else might chime in here on subrogation issues, where an insurance company can actually sue you directly, to recover any payments the insurance company paid in a loss if you were involved.
But if course, if you're sure you won't ever need insurance, just get the cheapest you can find. (yeah right!)

Eaa and AOPA aren't insurance companies, they're brokers. They probably both provide renter's insurance through AIG, so in all likelihood the prices are the same. Pilot experience is irrelevant, there are set rates for renter's insurance, and you don't have to go through AOPA's "agency" (which really is a generic agency paying to use their name) to get an AOPA discount.SoaringSeth wrote:EAA or AOPA for renters?
