Beautiful day in Dallas today with clear skies, 10-15kt winds from the north and in the 60s so decided my plane needed some exercise. Learned a couple things:
* I can still navigate without all my gizmos. I took my 795 out of the plane to update a week or two ago and forgot to bring it with me today. I did have my iPhone w/Foreflight and paper WACs but didn't use them as I meandered around the patch and somehow I found the airport on my return.
* The winds were coming pretty much straight down the runway and were around ~35kts at 3K so my ground speed on final was pretty slow. I landed normally with full flaps and touching down somewhere around 40 KIAS. Anyway I touched down on the numbers and slowed enough to make our only turn-off giving me a ground roll of ~450' (http://www.google.com/maps/place/Aero+C ... a6148f2c73. Specs say 345' which would've been achievable if I'd used the brakes. Of course the specs are without wind but nice to know I could almost land on football field.
Just went flying....
