B Bar D Aviation at KTTA in Sanford, NC (near Raleigh) has added another Allegro 2000 to their rental fleet. This releives the congestion that they had on their only other plane.
The new 2000 has about 400 hours on it and the 80 HP Rotax with a Garmin 396 GPS with a panel dock. Almost new.
They upgraded the older 2000 to a 100 HP Rotax.
They have also lowered the rental fee to $80/wet.

That sounds awesome!
Any idea how long it takes to get checked out in one/adjust to the adverse yaw tendency? Also the center stick?

Re: New Sport Plane on line in NC
I got to fly one about a year and a half ago (was considering the purchase of a used 2000) and were up for nearly an hour. We did all the basic maneuvers, stalls and two landings. I was confident that another hour with a CFI, focusing on landings, and I would feel confident to go it alone. It handled a LOT differently from my Ercoupe and I also needed to get back to using my feet.
The center stick was a non-issue and the side throttle (down at seat level) only took a few minutes for it to become "comfortable." YMMV

Re: New Sport Plane on line in NC
Thats great news! I went for a flight yesterday in the old Allegro (100hp) and plan to solo in the next month.
I would think you could get checked out in the Allegro in 2 hours, just gotta use those feet.

Re: New Sport Plane on line in NC
I flew the allegro once about 2 years ago -- i felt like i spent over half my time chasing the ball, and at one point had it in a full slip... it was coordinated and in level flight, but it was by no means the most aerodynamic configuration for going straight!
I might have to ride down there in a few weeks. I'm doing my written this weekend and should be able to do my check-ride in about 2 weeks (pending available funding...)

That straight and level full slip thing happened to me yesterday too, just have to get accustomed working the pedals and staying light on the stick.
Good luck on that written!
