Renewal: DL, MCL & SPL $70 :)

Post by Targetbuster »

Just wanted to register a big Thank You to everyone who has participated in the origination and continuance of Sport Pilot licensing.
As I renewed my drivers license yesterday (literally a 10 minute process that cost me a total of $70 for a 5 year time frame) I couldn't help but realize that I had just re-upped my sport pilot license, motorcycle license and drivers license all at the same time with literally no hassles. For nearly nothing (comparatively speaking).
For me, sport pilot flying is the greatest thing that could be.
I've decided to rent the airplane instead of own as I only fly about 30-40 hours per year. Hence, my total flying bill can easily be kept to $2-300 per month. And with no medical to worry about!!! What a GREAT deal!!
So thanks again to every one who made this possible.

I'm delighted that SP is working out so well for you, Targetbuster. However, I should point out that renewing the DL doesn't exactly renew your SP license. For that, you have to take a Flight Review every 24 calendar months.

Yep, knew that, have already been through 1 BFR. Was really only speaking to the hassle free aspects of keeping the drivers license medical up to date. I actually enjoy my BFRs. I like flying with instructors. Can always learn something from those folks!

Just a quick side note. You don't have to have a DL for sport pilot, you can do it with a medical if you want.
